Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe folds, such as nasolabial folds. Restylane is the first cosmetic dermal filler made of non-animal based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin.
Restylane has been used by plastic surgeons since 1996 worldwide. Allergy testing is not required, however, Restylane contains trace amounts of gram positive bacterial proteins and should not be used by patients with a history of allergies to such material.
After your treatment, you might have some redness or swelling. This will usually last less than a week. Sunbathing or cold outdoor activities should be avoided until any redness or swelling disappear. If you are pregnant, breast-feeding or under 18 years of age, you should not use Restylane.
Restylane is proven to deliver long-lasting results. Studies have shown that Restylane effects generally last for about six months to one year and individual results will vary.

Patients generally return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure, however following the post-procedure guidelines will dramatically reduce the length and intensity of the recovery period. Patients should avoid engaging in heavy physical exercise, applying cosmetics, or laying down flat for a minimum of 4 hours after the injections. It is also advisable to avoid rubbing or massaging the injected area for at least 24 hours.
